Next Steps

What does it mean to be an undergraduate nondegree-seeking student?

As a nondegree-seeking student, you can enroll in a limited number of undergraduate credit hours and be classified with a nondegree status. Examples of nondegree-seeking students include:

  • High school students wishing to dual enroll in preapproved courses
  • Individuals wishing to take courses for personal enjoyment and professional development
  • Individuals needing prerequisites for professional schools

If you are interested in graduate studies at Clemson and need undergraduate prerequisite courses, you should apply as nondegree through the Clemson Graduate School.

The nondegree status is not a "trial admission" status, and students who have been denied regular admission are not eligible.

How to Apply as a Nondegree-Seeking Student

  1. Review important dates and deadlines.
  2. Complete the application
  3. Pay the nonrefundable $40 application fee. Clemson accepts all major credit cards.

The number of undergraduate credit hours that can be taken as a nondegree-seeking student may vary by program, but no more than 18 semester hours will be allowed. Once you reach the credit hour limit, you must apply to a degree-seeking program to take additional courses.
